Do you like a love story? Love is a good thing. Some say that people cannot live without that, and others insist that they can do anything for that. So, it must be something special, even if it involves the un-human or the inhuman. This is a love story: An anomaly-shaped love story -- DRRR.
"Drrr" or "Durarara!" is one of Japanese anime, which has many characters. Most of them are Japanese people and the location is Ikebukuro, a real existing city of Japan. This anime is based on a young-adult novel named the same, which series has released over 10 books so far, so the story gets expanded again and again. Now, let me introduce the first main episode. This is also the first episode of the anime version.
- The setting
A boy has arrived at Ikebukuro, which is one of the biggest towns in Japan. He became a high-school student and come to town to see his friend, who contacted him via the Internet. His friend introduces some urban legend of Ikebukuro:
There is a Russian guy, who is really inscrutable but nice. There is a "strongest" bartender, from who you must keep away unless you want to be blown to another planet. There is a gang, whose team color is yellow and they are so dangerous. There is another gang; the team color is unknown and so is their activity. There is an informer, with who you should not have a relationship.
However, the biggest and hottest urban legend of the town is, his friend say, about a head-less rider. The rider is on a perfectly silent bike without any lights and never puts off the helmet lest anybody should see there is no head on the shoulder.
These people are seemingly unrelated to each other, but actually, they are connected, even they themselves don't know though. What's going on the town? You will be the only one person who knows the whole picture after reading through.
- The love
The story is so intricate because it is depicted from each view of the many characters. However, the gist is simple: LOVE. This is a love story; just the love is a little strange. You will know that there are many shapes in love. Don't jump to the conclusion. This is not a melodrama. There is no "ideal" hero or heroine to be loved by all the reader. They are so complicated that they are all "human". All? Yes, ALL.
